In The Summertime

Yes, yes, almost every Southern California resident is complaining about the weather. It's been two weeks into Fall and we have yet to feel sweater weather. One of the coolest day I spent in the Summer was when Scott and I traded our laptops for paper and pen, and traded our Apple screens for an ocean view. We didn't do much work, I rode a yacht for the first time and Scott rode a Ferris wheel for the first time. Can you tell we were a bit distracted?

Yes, I had to record Scott's first time Ferris experience.

I'm blown away by all the response I received on my last post. I'll be getting back to emails and can't wait to reply back to your thoughts. Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement.

Bottega Louie and Gabby

One of the benefits of not blogging daily was the bounty of time I found. I went out to LA a couple times, and one of the times was meeting Gabby from Corazones Rojos and lunched at Bottega Louie, a restaurant in Downtown LA.

She is just as fierce, funny and stylish face to face as she presents herself on her blog.

Very few places can make a BLT and fries look glamorous and BL was capital in their presentation. The quality of the food was just as good as it looks. The best part about the place? THE BAKERY! I've never discriminated against a cupcake, but after having BL's cupcakes, I can taste what the big hurrah is about cupcakes.

BL not only had cupcakes but they macarons (not to be confused with the macaroon), and after seeing them all over the blogesphere, I had to join the macaron club and have my own set of pretty photos. Apologies for the cliché but I couldn't help myself.

I really loved the aesthetics of the dessert, but the taste I wasn't impressed by. It was a bit dry, flat and not as filling as I expected.

I'm definitely returning to BL for the service, the food and the cupcakes! Have you ever tried BL or macarons, or both? What do you think? Was I harsh critic in this French delicacy?

Much Love Monday {The OC Fair}
Heart Attack Cafe

If you're in OC, please go visit the fair this year. They have Heart Attack Cafe, which serves everything fried, even fried butter. However, I recommend the apple fries. It's my idea of being healthy but still enjoying the fried food.

These photos were actually taken with the FX Camera app on my Android phone; I'm commissioned to test out new Android camera apps and it's been one of my favorite jobs this Summer, snapping away with my phone. Here are some photos below of the rest of the fair with the camera application.

Still in the process of playing with the app settings, but I love it so far. For android users, go to marketplace, search FX Camera.

carnival love

Yes, it's cliche to have a carnival photo or two in my etsy shop like most etsy photographers, but then again, being a girl and having a camera is cliche itself. I can't help it though, I love every single one.

I love carnivals. I love the noisy crowds, I love the disgusting hot dogs, I love the heart burn inducing funnel cakes. And yes, the carnies, circus folk, nomads, smelling like cabbage, with small hands (if you know where that paraphrased quote is from, I love you).
I'm scared to ride on an actual carnival ride, but I love capturing them.

I know not everyone favors carnival. Where do you fall? Love? Hate? I know you have some crazy carnie stories, tell me ♥

Balboa Beach

Carly stayed at my home for a week. From a Canadian's point of view- she found the most miniscule things I take for granted so capital. Take the beach for example-
The sand in between my toes is no longer a nuisance, it feels crisp and warm.
The weather is no longer just hot, I felt the breeze I was never aware of that was there all along.
The loud waves aren't just repetitive and noisy, they are each completely different from each other and amazing.
The water wasn't so freezing, it felt refreshing and cool.

I have a new found optimism for the beach and for being a Californian now (despite the horrible economic state). More pics and stories coming soon like the blogger meet up!
Glad to be back!
oh, do you like the new layout? Sophie did an amazing job, right?
