Straddle the Lines Between Art and Science

If I didn't suck so much at math, I would love to study cartography. I tried reading a book about it last year, but I didn't have the attention span for numbers by half of the book.

For New Year's weekend, my husband and I went to LA to see L.A. Unfolded: Maps from the LAPL. The exhibit ended in January, sadly. Moments like that made me wish I had a good digital camera. I wish I could show you how brilliant and beautiful the maps were. What amazed me the most was the maps were mostly on Los Angeles. The city itself had enough maps to fill a gallery.

Maps are a treat; it's a way to travel through time, learn about history and the map makers who combined the love of art and science with such a strong imagination.
